Green Energy Fair was great success says de Burca
Green Party councillor, Deirdre de Burca, claims that Sunday’s Green Energy Fair hosted by the Green Party was a “resounding success”.
According to de Burca, several thousand people visited the Fair in Leopardstown Race Course to view the alternative energy heating systems on display, and to find out more about the grants available to install these heating systems.
“The Green Party had a really busy and productive day” says de Burca. “Thousand of people from Dublin and from all over County Wicklow came to find out more about new alternative energy technologies and to familiarise themselves with the new grants that are now available. The level of public interest in new Green technologies is really phenomenal and makes me realise that people are listening to the news about continuing increases in oil and gas prices and they are serious about investigating the alternatives”.
The Green Party councillor says that she believes that other political parties will start to take the lead set by the Green Party in the area of energy efficiency and renewable energy. “They can’t afford not to” she says. “The public is already way ahead of the politicians in realising that energy efficiency and renewable energy are the future. Now those political parties have to make the policy changes necessary to ensure that the development of renewable energy industries are fully incentivized so that they become cheaper and more widely available to the public”.
