FINNEGAN'S BUS SERVICE PREPARED TO MAKE CHANGES SAY GREENS

Following a meeting last week between Green Party representatives Deirdre de Burca and Caroline Burrell with Eugene Finnegan of Finnegan's Bus Service, the Green Party declared itself satisfied that serious changes were being considered by the owner of the local bus service.

The two Green Party representatives had sought a meeting with Mr Finnegan following a survey they had carried out in the Southern Cross area. The survey had identified the Finnegan's Bus Service as one of the greatest sources of dissatisfaction with residents in the area.

"Mr Finnegan gave us assurances at the meeting with him that he would respond positively to the concerns we raised" sais Green Party councilor Deirdre de Burca. "He told us that he will begin to run a Sunday service from May of this year onwards, and that he will runbuses up to 11.30 at night on a pilot basis. We are very happy with this result".

Caroline Burrell pointed out that the local bus service could have a large market of potential customers in the Southern Cross Area alone. "At present, people do not use the service because they feel it is unreliable and does not come often enough" she said. "I am gald to report that Mr Finnegan has told us he will positively consider running a bus every 20 minutes rather than every 30 minutes as is the case at present".

The Green Party representatives claim that the survey was a very valuable exercise in establishing the views of residents of the Southern Cross Area and they are still awaiting a response from Bray Town Clark, Catherine Halligan, as to what actions she is willing to take in relation to the concerns raised by residents.
