[Press Release: February 2nd, 2008] Green Cllr. welcomes €1.6 million in Childcare Funding for County WicklowGreen Party Cllr. Caroline Burrell welcomes €1.6 million in Childcare Funding for the County with over €120,000 going to childcare groups in Bray. This round of funding sees allocations to Scallywags Childcare of €100,000, Briarwood Montessori - €4,781 and Bubbles Preschool, - €18,572."This range of funding throughout the County will go a long way towards the much needed provision of additional childcare facilities and programmes for Bray. I am delighted that groups are continuing to use the funding available under the National Childcare Investment Programme to provide new places which will help reduce the cost of childcare for all who want to access it" said Cllr. Burrell. "The National Childcare Investment Programme which runs from 2006 – 2010 will create 5,000 after-school and 10,000 pre-school education places, support a range of childcare facilities for parents and their children, provide quality measures for childminders and parent and toddler groups and establish education measures for children and adults in areas of disadvantage. This good news announcement confirms the commitment to achieve these objectives" concluded Cllr. Burrell.
