Burrell welcomes over €1m housing adaptation grants for older people and people with a disability

Green Party Cllr. Caroline Burrell has welcomed the Department of the Environment's recent allocation of €1,079,910m to Wicklow to fund housing adaptation grants for older people and people with a disability.

Cllr. Burrell said: "I am very happy that Minister John Gormley's Department has made this significant allocation to Wicklow to fund very important projects. These housing adaptation schemes are vitally important in assisting older people and people with a disability in Bray to continue to live in their own homes and communities with the dignity that they deserve. I would urge older people and those with a Disability to check out this Schemes with Bray Town Council to see if applicable and to avail of them."

"In addition, initial funding of €13 million has been made available under the Special Housing Aid for the Elderly Scheme in 2008. This will enable still further progress to be made in addressing the accommodation needs of older persons," Cllr Burrell concluded. For further information please contact:
